We have just begun. Quilting has become a very important part of our lives. We are a mother/daughter team of quilting craziness. We have each searched for that special niche that gives us pleasure and joy that fills that creative side. I have been sewing since I was five years of age when my mother placed a needle in my hand and showed me how to make simple stitches. That's all it took for me. I began making clothes and blankets for my dolls. I t wasn't long after that that mom sat me down in front of her singer sewing machine. My first garment was a simple skirt. I picked up all sorts of crafty hobbies - embroidery, needlepoint, crocheting, knitting, painting, and more. My first actual quilt was made for my baby boy. It was twelve simple squares with punch embroidery and a simple border with the corners of each block hand tied. My second quilt was for my baby girl. That one was all hand appliqué. The true understanding of quilting didn't dawn for several years. I caught the major quilting bug a few years ago when I discovered the art of piecing and long arm quilting. The rest is history. I'm always looking for new techniques and inspirations. There is nothing as satisfying as choosing random fabrics and using them to create a piece of art. Today's techniques have simplified the process and the new modern styles of colors and embellishments are inspiring. Come share with us as we build Roses Quilt Shoppe. Share with us your favorite techniques and projects.
